Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, Most Reverend Dr. Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo, has urged the Federal Government to revive Nigerians’ hope in the country’s leadership. He also called on government to address the fundamental defective structures that have deepened poverty in the country.

Odetoyinbo, who gave the charge, at the weekend, during the dedication of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Isheri-Olofin, in Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, said: “Government at all levels should create more jobs opportunities for unemployed youths in the country, they should look at the economic challenges that the citizens are facing, as we have so much hunger and pain in the land.
The bishop said that the journey, planning, stress, hopes, desires and aspiration have all come to a close as the church is dedicated to the offering of God.
He, however, congratulated the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Ebenezer Akinduro; the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), Parish Laity Council (PLC), the building committee and the entire members of the church who have worked and contributed in no small measures to the success and completion of the church.
The bishop further charged members of the parish to always be conscious and aware of the holiness of God when they enter the church, celebrate the Liturgy or pray at all times, saying: “I enjoin and exhort you to keep this house of prayer clean, for cleanliness is next to Godliness so that your hearts and minds, body and soul may continue to enjoy the goodness, mercy and kindness of God all the days of your lives.”
The Parish Priest, Akinduro, said people’s orientation about the worship of God should be true and with love. He, therefore, charged Christians to be more prayerful and be positive towards the nation, knowing the right thing and doing the right thing, seeing evil and correcting it.
Chairman of the PPC, Emeka Owoh, said that not minding the economic challenge of the country, the church was still built with a population of about 500 worshippers.
“One important thing the church has taught us is that once we trust in God, He will always come around for His people and do that which we cannot imagine,” he said.
