The African Food Network AFN 100 was inspired to express recognition for special food industry stake holders, and their outstanding leadership and contribution to promoting African cuisine across the continent and the globe.

AFN and these individuals have used their content on socials and web going viral, for the persons who’s restaurants have lots of African guests, their influence sheds more light on the African Cuisine’s, fosters some sort of connection with the motherland, and in turn preserve our age old recipes and passed down to the next generation.

The criteria considered in evaluating these candidates for the AFN 100 includes their Influence on social media and having a loyal community, Website influence and how much readers visits to learn new recipes, and blog posts, Restaurants owners and the impact on society in promoting local dishes and also getting across to individuals outside Africa

According to African Food Network, this act of appreciation is the very first edition, “ We are showing our appreciation by taking it up to us to do our research and compiling the list, also a certificate from African Food Network to certify them, on subsequent editions we would have a more appreciative approach. Every individual on the list will have a certificate issued to them, and we are open for a collaboration with them. African food network engaged with the food community and lovers through our social channels to ask specific questions across our official social media pages and the subsidiary accounts in West Africa, South Africa, East Africa and North Africa,” The release stated.
