Speaking further on the award, Ajibola said it is a validation of his team’s efforts, symbolising the recognition of the potential impact of technology in addressing urban challenges and making cities smarter, more efficient and more livable.

He disclosed further that the high point of the award ceremony was when the mayor acknowledged the innovative nature of the proposed solution, with which their smart city app was selected the best overall, and the potential for each solution to contribute significantly to the city’s development. “It underscored the importance of technology-driven solutions in building smarter and more sustainable communities.”

Ajibola also led a first of its kind hackathon at Morgan State University. Speaking on the level of his involvement in the hackathon, he said, “Specifically MorganHacks, was a significant initiative I led at Morgan State University, with up to nine different Universities in attendance, and an acknowledgement from US Vice President, Kamala Harris’s office. It showcased my passion for technology, entrepreneurship, and underrepresented communities. I strongly believe that underrepresented communities have a chance to build wealth and shape culture at a high level when we begin to engage innovation and technology as a tool for
transgenerational advancement,” he said.
