The member representing Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Prof. Lilian Orogbu, has set machinery in motion to retain her seat, which, she believes, would be deployed for the benefit of Labour Party’s 2025 Anambra Governorship and 2027 Senatorial and Presidential elections, respectively.
Orogbu, who spoke during the 2023 Christmas festival of songs recently, tagged: ‘Awka North/South Unity Carol and Nine Lessons,’ in conjunction with the Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) Awka, said that her performance would guarantee her re-election.
She pointed out that those who served the constituency, including Uche Ekeunude, did well, but assured she would outclass their contributions.
According to her, after failing to use the election tribunal and Court of Appeal to overturn her victory, her opponents are already mobilising for the 2025 election, accusing her of favouring Awka South Council at the expense of Awka North.
Orogbu, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility, said the event, which was also staged to empower constituents from both local councils that make up her constituency, cuts across political, ethic and religion affiliations to accommodate Yoruba, Hausa, Calabar, town unions and different political parties.
