Otu flags off street party of 2023 Carnival Calabar
Cross River State government has presented awards of excellence to eight illustrious sons and daughters of the state recently appointed and elevated in the service of the nation.

The awardees include the Minister of Sports, John Owan-Enoh, his Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs counterpart, Dr. Betta Edu, Justice Jane Essienanwan Inyang of the Court of Appeal, Chief of Defence Intelligence, Maj. Gen. EAP Undiandeye.

Others include Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Department of Finance and Administration, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Force Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Okon Effiong; AIG In-charge of Zone 9 Headquarters, Umuahia, AIG Echeng Eworo Echeng; AIG Susan Horsefall (rtd), Zone 11 Command, Osogbo; AIG Paul Ojiako Osama, Zone 11 Command, Osogbo; AIG Patrick Ogon Edung and the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, Emmanuel Effiom.

MEANWHILE, Governor Bassey Otu, yesterday, flagged off the street party of the 2023 edition of Carnival Calabar, with the theme, ‘Season of Sweetness.’

The governor, during the ceremony, which was held at the Millennium Park, in Calabar, said that this was a fulfillment of one of his campaign promises to bring back the carnival on a bigger platform.

He said: “This is one of our campaign promises that we are going to bring Carnival Calabar back and on a bigger platform.

“What you have seen is a tip of the iceberg because we are taking it to the next level. I can see our sponsors in their beautiful colours; we appreciate your efforts.”
