The January Twenty-Seven International Foundation, has empowered over 200 widows from various locations in Lagos and its environs. The founder of the foundation, Mrs. Doyinsola Femi Olaiya, said the empowerment initiative aligns with the organisation’s mission to enhance the quality of life of widows in urban and rural areas throughout Nigeria.

The empowered widows, who had previously undergone diverse skills acquisition training, received equipment or financial assistance to kickstart their entrepreneurial endeavors. Essential items such as, deep freezers, umbrellas, and monetary support were provided to enable the widows to embark on a fresh start.

Chairman of the foundation’s board of trustees, Mr. Femi Olaiya, highlighted the foundation’s commitment to empowering widows through initiatives fostering self-sufficiency, emotional well-being, and advocacy for their rights.

He underscored the foundation’s role in offering vocational training programmes that equip widows with new skills, enabling them to support themselves and their families.

Commending the organisation’s efforts, Lead Pastor of Greater Heights Baptist Church, Rev. Olakunle Sunday, acknowledged that the foundation addresses a critical societal challenge. Encouraging widows to embrace gratitude in their circumstances, Sunday urged them to leverage the support received from the foundation.

Executive Coordinator of the Ajoke Ayisat Foundation, Mrs. Foluke Ademokun, commended January Twenty-Seven for transforming widows into business owners, acknowledging the foundation’s commendable job in empowering these women.
