
The Squash Section, Lagos Country Club, recently held its maiden edition of the Geophase Annual Closed & Club Pro-tournament.
The tournament, the first of its kind in Nigeria, was specifically designed for former professional squash players, who had once eked a living from playing the game, and are now bonafide members of various Squash Playing Clubs across the country.
Former Nigerian Number One player, Mr. Jude Odeh, who is now based in the United States of America, won the tournament, while Mr. Seun Peters of White Waters Squash Academy was the runner-up. Yusuf Durosinlorun and Stephen Peters shared the joint third position.
In the Closed Tournament, Mr. Murphy Yussuf won the Veteran Category, defeating Dr. Tunde Adewoye in a very tough and engaging encounter. Deji Sule and Taiwo Sanni shared joint third position.
In the Men Category, Mr. Jude Ode won. He defeated Dr. Bunmi Apata while Haniel Hadison and Dayo Tifase shared the joint third position.
The sponsor, Dr. Kayode Waliu promised to improve on its next edition while the President of the Lagos Country Club.Mr. Seyi Adewunmi commended the sponsor and enjoined other members to make similar efforts ats raising the bar in the game of squash.
