Lagos reiterates decision to move Computer Village to Katangua market
Lagos State government, yesterday, reiterated its decision to move Computer Village, Ikeja, to Katangua market in Abule Egba.
Special Adviser on the state’s electronic Geographic Information System (e-GIS) and Urban Planning, Olajide Babatunde, disclosed this during a visit to the market.
He described the area where Computer Village is currently located as residential. He stressed that the state will ensure that laws are obeyed and that residential areas remain residential.
Babatunde explained that the relocation had been planned for a number of years. He said the plan was delayed for some reason but added that the issues were being addressed.
He said: “We have to make provision and also accommodate our people who are in this area. The occupants of the residential area within Computer Village will be properly relocated and settled in Katangua, which is the area that has been designated by the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, particularly the Office of Physical Planning, for their trade.
“Katangua market will have malls like you find in Dubai. We are going to have those facilities, with secured titles as well, so that if they want to take loans for the property they have within the market, they can use that with any bank. There will be banking facilities, clinic, school, and storage facilities among others.”
