Users of Facebook, Instagram, Messenger have poured out their lamentations after the three social media platforms suddenly stopped working on Tuesday afternoon.

Instagram refused to work at all while Facebook had its users logged out.

It was, however, discovered that WhatsApp which is also owned by the Meta group was properly functioning.

Facebook and Instagram users thereafter flocked to X (formerly Twitter) to check if it was also down.

An X user said “some hard crashing is going on right now and they are invalidating phone numbers for starters.”

Another X user posted: “Facebook and Instagram down? Looks like X is having its moment in the spotlight today!

“Who knows, maybe we’ll discover some social life out there after all this!”

An X user named Hannah Leopold wrote: “Anyone else notice how Instagram and Facebook keep having outage problems, but X typically doesn’t?”

A check on Facebook, however, revealed that the authorities are working on restoring back the website.

“Sorry, something went wrong. We are working on it and we will get it fixed as soon as we can,” Facebook wrote.
