Kendrick Lamar Drops Third Diss Track ‘6:16 in L.A’ Aimed At Drake
Kendrick Lamar has dropped his third diss track titled “6:16 in L.A”, aimed at Canadian rapper, Drake.
The track, which was first released on May 3rd, 2024, is the third diss track directed at Drake in their public 2024 beef. This comes just days after Lamar’s second diss track, “Euphoria”.
“6:16 in L.A” parodies the titles of Drake’s popular “timestamp songs,” like his 2013 songs “4 PM in Calabasas” and 2023’s “8 AM in Charlotte”.
In the song, Kendrick questions Drake’s allegiance, rapping, “Have you ever thought that OVO was working for me?” He also takes aim at Drake, calling him out as a “fake bully” and calling him “a terrible person”.
Lamar also said that people in Drake’s circle are backstabbing him in the track.
The lyrics: “Everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it | If you was street smart, you woulda caught your entourage is only to hussle you | 100 guy that you got on salary, and 20 of them want you as the casualty | It’s time you look around and see who’s really around you”
The beef between the two rappers started over a song titled “First Person Shooter” from Drake’s album “For All The Dogs”.
This song featured J. Cole and referred to Drake, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar as the “big three” of the rap industry.
Kendrick Lamar took issue with this title and responded with a verse on Metro Boomin and Future’s “Like That”.
In his verse, Lamar rejected the “big three” title and set himself apart from them.
The beef grew when Lamar released a diss track targeting Drake and J. Cole. The track contained lyrics like: “Yeah, get up with me, f-k sneak dissing/’First Person Shooter,’ I hope they came with three switches,” and “Motherf-k the Big Three, n—a, it’s just big me”.
This feud has its roots in the early stages of their careers when Drake and Kendrick Lamar collaborated on each other’s records.
Over time, what started as friendly competition turned into a full-blown feud. The rap world is now closely watching to see how Drake will respond to Lamar’s latest diss track.
