Ohanaeze denies fixing burial date

South-East Governors’ Forum has expressed shock over the death of the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu. In a statement issued, yesterday, by the Chairman of the forum, and the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, they described the deceased as an illustrious son, whose death was painful to them, regretting that his demise had thrown the region into mourning.

The statement read: “The South East Governors’ Forum has expressed deep pain over the unfortunate demise, Thursday, July 25, 2024, of their illustrious son, father, and President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Dr Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu, Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo.”

The statement, signed by Uzodimma, noted the entire region had been thrown into mourning by the sudden passing of Chief Iwuanyanwu.

MEANWHILE, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has dismissed claims that its late President, will be buried on September 25.It stated that contrary to news making the rounds that Iwuanyanwu’s burial date had been fixed, it said its Secretary-General, Ambassador Okey Emuchay, had not announced any date for the burial of the elder statesman.

A statement sent to The Guardian yesterday, stated that it was unfortunate how falsehood are circulated to achieve a stated goal.
