As the nationwide protests against bad governance tagged #EndBadGovernance #10DaysofRage entered the second day, roadside businesses and hawkers that went into hiding are slowly reemerging in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Along major streets in Dutse, yam sellers, banana, groundnut, and cooked fresh corn sellers have taken up positions displaying their goods for patronage.

While the main markets still remain locked amid a heavy presence of policemen, the roadside businesses including Point of Sale (POS) operators are out, tending to the scanty customers.

One such small business owner, selling a local delicacy popularly known as ‘akara’, was seen making brisk business as the few lovers of the delicacy that were out were seen buying.

A banana seller seen hawking told our reporter that she cannot stay at home because of the protest because she needs to earn a living.

“You see this banana, I have to sell it so that I can make some money and buy food. If I don’t sell, it will spoil in the house and that is bad business.”

A vulcanizer who claimed he didn’t go out for business on the first day of the protest said the environment is much calmer and that is why he is open for business.
