Ahead of its 25th anniversary/silver jubilee celebrations to be held between August 12 and 18 at the Mercy Revival Centre (MRC), Idimu-Ikotun, Ikotun, Lagos, the General Overseer of God’s Mercy Revival Ministries (GOMERM), Lagos, Dr James Akanbi, has said the major problem with Nigeria is the lack of continuity in governance.
Akanbi stated this, yesterday, when he visited The Guardian’s corporate office in Lagos, in the company of his wife, Pastor Deborah Akanbi, and other senior church members.
The General Overseer was received by The Guardian management team, led by the Deputy Editor of The Guardian, Dr Wole Oyebade, who represented the Editor, Dr Femi Adekoya. He also identified another challenge as the lack of an enduring blueprint for the country.
Akanbi recalled he was at The Guardian 27 years ago and commended the newspaper and its management for the good work the newspaper is known for and for partnering with the church in all their programmes.
The cleric, who is also optimistic about Nigeria’s future, stated that the nation would also experience transformation. He said: “The nation will also experience a transformation as we move into the future. It seems as if it doesn’t look like it now, but eventually, we will get there.”
Many things of God first happen in the realm of the spirit before they happen in the realm of the physical. The Bible says you are blessed in all spiritual blessings in a heavenly place. The Bible makes us understand that before any blessing is going to be material, first it will be spiritual. I believe that is what we are seeing in the nation and our ministry as well.
“What I have seen as a major problem in the country is the lack of continuity when it comes to governance.
“With all the complications we feel, we are having the heaven’s agenda on course. It looks like tribulation, but heaven is saying it’s good because we are moving towards the arrival of the son of God and nothing will get us to the arrival of the son of God except these complications and these tribulations. Within the complications and tribulations, God will be able to give us some solutions, at least, that will give us some respite, even in the mix of complications. It is that respite that we called the transformation.”
