Minister, immigration boss decorate newly promoted DCGs

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service Board (CDCFIB) under the Ministry of Interior have decorated 15 Deputy Comptrollers General (DCGs), seven of whom are from the Immigration Service.

The promoted officers include DCG IE Anietum, DCG AJ Umannah, DCG CM Dike, DCG GC Didel, DCG A Ayeni, DCG MT Umar, and DCG BN Usman.

Speaking during the occasion, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, said the appointments were strictly based on merit.

He charged them to put extra effort into bequeathing a security system that Nigerians will be proud of.

He stated that the era of nepotism is gone; hence officers should “hold on to the beacon of hope” and be loyal to the service and country.

On his part, the Secretary of the CDCFIB, Ja’afaru Ahmed, congratulated the decorated DCGs and lauded the phenomenal changes, namely, timely promotions, securing of more job vacancies, as well as life pensions for DCGs and Comptroller Generals, which the Minister and Chairman of the Board have achieved.

In a scripted goodwill message, the Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, congratulated the DCGs and also expressed hope that the appointments would serve as motivation for the appointees to bring their wealth of experience to bear.

She further extended gratitude to the President, the minister, and the Secretary of the Board for the unprecedented appointments.

Responding on behalf of the newly decorated officers, DCG Didel thanked Mr. President for finding them worthy.

He appreciated the minister and the board secretary for their roles, adding that they shall contribute positively to justify their elevations.

The high point of the event was the decoration of the DCGs by the minister, supported by families and their respective relatives.
