The family of Pa Michael Akinkunmi Taiwo (OFR), the designer of Nigeria’s national flag, has announced the burial rites for their patriarch, Akinkunmi, who died on August 29, 2023.

In a statement by his son, Akinwumi Akinkunmi, yesterday, the family expressed their gratitude to all those who supported them during their time of mourning.

A three-day burial plan for Akinkunmi will commence on Wednesday, September 4, and end on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Ibadan.

The family requested that the national flag be flown at half-mast in honour of the deceased during the burial.

The family expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for its concern, especially the condolence visit from a delegation led by the Minister of Information, Hon. Idris Mohammed.

However, the family disclosed that they are still awaiting the promised financial support from the Federal Government.
