The new Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Rivers State Chapter, Pst. Nwokoma Nwankwo, has assumed office, announcing plans and strategies to enthrone growth and development for the institute.

Nwankwo took over as branch Chairman for the 2024-2026 term during a recent ceremony in the State where he succeeded Hamilton Odum, who has completed his tenure as Chairman.

Nwankwo said he would focus on what he termed “The 4Ds of the Treasure-based branch”.

He explained that the agenda is designed to address four critical areas, including public engagement and professional practice, skill development for members, membership growth, and infrastructure development.

According to him, he plans to boost the profession’s profile through increased engagement with government agencies, corporate bodies, and other professional associations as strategic advocacy and collaboration become key components of his administration’s efforts.

The new Chairman emphasised the need for continuous professional growth, proposing collaborations with committees and information communication technology (ICT) to deliver skill-enhancing programs such as MCPDs, webinars, and seminars, with a strong emphasis on digital transformation.

Nwankwo also stressed the importance of mentoring the next generation of surveyors, with a focus on guiding them to associate membership and encouraging active participation within the branch and at the national level.

“One of the key priorities under our leadership will be the acquisition of a property for the branch secretariat and the commencement of a Secretariat building project. We will build on the efforts of the previous administration, ensuring the project’s timely completion,” he stated.

At the event, which was attended by professionals, Nwankwo expressed gratitude for the confidence placed on him by the members to lead. “I am deeply honoured to accept this responsibility as your Chairman, and I promise to dedicate myself to the growth and development,” he assured.

“The Rivers State branch of NIESV is set for a period of significant growth and enhanced professional stature under my leadership,” he reiterated.

The ceremony ended with a strong sense of unity and determination among members, who are eager to support the new leadership in achieving its ambitious goals.
