Confab to unlock Nigeria’s blue economy

Plans have been concluded at this year’s maritime finance conference jointly organised by the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) and NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML) to catalyse the nation’s blue economy.

The conference with the theme ‘Vessel Acquisition/Construction: Nigeria’s Banks, Insurance Firms, Government, and the Blue Economy’ is slated to hold on August 22 in Lagos.

President of AMJON, Paul Ogbuokiri, said the conference is expected to be a focal point for discussions on enhancing the nation’s maritime industry.

According to him, it will convene leading figures from the banking and insurance sectors, government agencies and maritime professionals to explore the intersections of finance, risk management and policy in bolstering the nation’s blue economy.

While assuring participants of in-depth presentations, expert analyses and engaging discussions aimed at unraveling the complexities of maritime finance, he said the event would also offer valuable networking opportunities, allowing attendees to connect with influential leaders and decision-makers who are driving change in Nigeria’s maritime sector.

He said critical stakeholders, including the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) and industry experts are expected to attend even as topics such as innovative financing solutions for vessel acquisition and construction; strategies for effective risk management and the critical role of government policies in sustaining and expanding the maritime industry would be explored.
