Supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election under the auspices of Northern Obidients Youth Assembly (NOYA) have urged the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, to consider their sacrifices and resist overtures from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The organisation alleged that the APC is attempting to woo Otti to destabilise the LP ahead of the 2027 general elections. It accused the Nigeria Labour Congress National Transition Committee (NLC NTC) of plotting to destabilise the party.’s structure.

Coordinator of the group, Hussaini Mukhtar, in a statement, yesterday, said that the agenda of those hatching the plot was to use Otti to play the same role being played in PDP by Wike, thereby destroying the party from within and paving the way for the governor to join another party.   “They are aware that this will lead to a protracted legal battle, resulting in collateral damage giving the APC’s easy win in 2027,” Mukhtar said.

While urging the governor to put into consideration the sacrifices of the 2023 presidential candidate of the party and his supporters in giving him the platform that brought him to power,  the group asked him to be wary of the NLC NTC, saying that they do not mean well for the party.

He said that the NTC had misinformed the governor that he remains the leader of LP because he is the highest elected public servant in the party, noting that such a position is alien to the party’s Constitution and the Electoral Act.
