The Nigerian Content Development Management Board (NCDMB), Bank of Industry (BOI), and the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Agency (NAQS) have scored high on the ease of business ranking carried out by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
NCDMB ranked first with an 80.1% score, then the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) with a 78.2% score, and the NAQS had a 74.8% score.
The Special Adviser to the President on Ease of Doing Business Dr Jumoke Oduwole while presenting the the half year ranking report on Tuesday in Abuja said that since 2018, the PEBEC Secretariat has tracked and ranked the
implementation and compliance of MDAs with the directives contained in the Business Facilitation Act 2022, based on monthly reports submitted by each MDA and assessed using efficiency and transparency methodology, weighted at 70% and 30% respectively.
She mentioned that from January to June 2024, the PEBEC ranked the 40 priority MDAs in order of their compliance with providing services in an efficient, timely, and customer-friendly manner.
Oduwole noted that the number of MDAs that have scored above 50 percent in their efficiency compliance increased from 8 MDAs in the 2023 Half-Year report to 20 MDAs in the 2024 Half-Year report.
She pointed out that there has been significant improvement in the overall rankings, with over 60% of MDAs now scoring above average, compared to the previous report where only 30% achieved above-average scores.
She emphasized that the current report spotlights the urgent need for MDAs to strengthen their efforts on high-quality service delivery to rapidly improve the productivity and competitiveness of Nigeria’s business environment.
Oduwole said the 90-day Regulatory Reform Accelerator (RRA) played a critical role in driving the performance of MDAs in the half year.
