Navy hands over four drug suspects, 72 bags of Cannabis sativa to NDLEA
The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft has handed over 72 bags of Cannabis sativa, each weighing 40kg, and four arrested drug suspects, comprising three Ghanaians and one Beninoise, to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Marine Command.
The Commander NNS Beecroft, Commodore Rafiu Taye Oladejo, who was represented by the Executive Officer, Navy Captain Mutalib Raji, disclosed that the consignments were intercepted on August 25, 2024, by the NNS Beecroft Quick Response Team.
The captain said the interception was a sequel to credible and actionable intelligence received by NNS Beecroft on suspicious activities of some criminal elements around the Lekki beach area.
“This necessitated the deployment of the Quick Response Team to the area for intensive patrol and search, which resulted in the interception of 72 bags of Cannabis sativa weighing over 2,880kg.
“The team also arrested three Ghanaians, Mr Godswill Zevor, Mr Monday Kpomeja, Mr Gbega Agbeko, and a Beninoise, Mr Elugbe Philip,” he said.
