Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 17 local government areas of Plateau State have urged President Bola Tinubu to comply with constitutional provisions to appoint a minister from the state to fill the vacancy that has existed for over eight months.

The APC members, under the aegis of Plateau APC Like-Minds, made the plea in a press release on Thursday, issued by their leader, Hon. Hassan Isa Maimadara.

The group expressed its admiration for President Tinubu’s leadership and vision for a prosperous Nigeria, adding that a minister from Plateau State will help actualize the Renewed Hope Vision of the President for a better Nigeria.

“We recall with pride the pivotal role Plateau State played in your electoral success, delivering an impressive 307,195 votes, exceeding the 25% requirement and surpassing many other states.

“However, we humbly bring to your attention the pressing need to appoint a minister from Plateau State to fill the vacancy that has existed for over eight months. This void has left our state without representation in the Federal Executive Council, despite our significant contribution to your electoral victory.

“Mr. President, we respectfully remind you that Section 147 of the Constitution’s Fifth Alterations mandates that each state shall have at least one minister representing it in the Federal Executive Council. Unfortunately, Plateau State’s non-representation has left us underrepresented,” they said.

The group also said that APC has two senators, five members of the House of Representatives, and 22 members of the House of Assembly, but noted that six of the House of Assembly members have not been sworn in, which is “very unfortunate.”

The group appealed to President Tinubu’s sense of justice and inclusivity to address this imbalance, recommending their former governorship candidate, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for the position, citing his unwavering commitment to the party’s ideals and his suitability to unite the state and party.

The Plateau APC Like-Minds assured President Tinubu of their unwavering commitment to support his vision and pledged to work tirelessly to ensure the success of his administration.

The group concluded by expressing their deepest gratitude for President Tinubu’s leadership and vision and looked forward to his prompt attention to their request.
