The family of Micheal Ilevbabor, who gave birth to a quadruplet, has appealed for financial assistance. The father, Micheal Ilevbabor, who brought them to the Rutam House headquarters of The Guardian, Lagos, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, said the family spends at least N600,000 monthly to care for the children. He said they can no longer afford the financial burden.

Efe, Ohi, Akhavbiomo, and Omolegho were born on April 29, 2022, in the Lagoon Hospital in Lagos State. Ilevbabor, who hails from Edo State, said: “It has not been easy coping and taking care of them. They were delivered seven weeks earlier than expected, so they must be incubated for seven weeks.
Unfortunately, the government hospital did not have enough space for them. We had to look for a hospital with four incubators in one room.

“It was not easy for the payments and other things. The payments cost more than N15 million for the seven weeks, and we tried our best with family and friends, co-workers, and alma matter who helped us to raise money. So far, taking care of them has not been easy.

“The cost of diapers, food, health care and others are killing me, and that is why I have to cry out for help. We have Efe, whose English name is Audrey. Ohi, whose English name is Hann, Akhavbiomo, whom we also call Kimberly and Omolegho, whom we call Eudora.”

When asked how he reacted to the news of their birth, Ilevbabor, who is a security expert, said: “Initially, my wife gave birth to three, and I had gone out to buy stuff for them, only to be told that she had given birth to another child, making them four. I was lost for words; I didn’t know what to say or how to react.

“They have their education coming up. It’s not an easy task to pay their fees. I am begging Nigerians and everyone to assist us. They are our first issue. We waited for four years after marriage before my wife conceived.
