The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over allegations of anti-party activities.
PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, revealed the summons on Monday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.
Abdullahi announced that Wike has been called to appear before the PDP disciplinary committee, led by elder statesman Chief Tom Ikimi.
Abdullahi said, “Three weeks ago, we established two committees: one for reconciliation and one for disciplinary actions. Nyesom Wike is among those summoned by the disciplinary committee, which is chaired by Chief Tom Ikimi.”
The committee will investigate allegations of anti-party activities.
Abdullahi noted that petitions regarding Wike and other members, accusing them of sabotaging the party, have been collected and forwarded to the committee.
He further criticised Wike’s recent remarks about “putting fire” in the states of some PDP governors, calling them wrong and unacceptable.
Abdullahi stressed that Wike’s comments were disappointing and not supported by the party.
The remarks came shortly after Wike expressed satisfaction with his role in the Bola Tinubu administration despite criticism.
During a PDP Congress in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike threatened to provoke political crises in the states of any PDP governor that interfered in the party’s affairs in Rivers State.
