President Bola Tinubu has assured that the perpetrators of the tragic loss of lives at Mafa in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State will inevitably face justice.

This statement came as President Tinubu commiserated with the government and the people of Yobe over the sinister act.

Reports indicate that a group of assailants riding motorcycles attacked the Mafa area late on September 1.

However, there are conflicting casualty figures, with some reports suggesting that up to 87 locals may have been killed.

The attackers were said to have also set fire to houses and other structures. Local accounts attributed the attack to Boko Haram militants.

In a statement, President Tinubu extended his condolences to the bereaved families, condemning the killings as an atrocious and cowardly act of terror by a degraded group of criminals.

In the statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Tuesday, Tinubu prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and a speedy recovery for the wounded.
