The new Executive Committee of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has lauded the immense contributions of Chief Ayo Adebanjo to the development of the nation and Yoruba land.

Afenifere made this commendation when a delegation of the pan-Yoruba group paid a courtesy visit to the chief at his Lekki home in Lagos State.

The visit took place on Sunday evening, following the maiden meeting of the new Executive Committee of Afenifere.

According to the Secretary-General of Afenifere who led the delegation, Agbaakin Ademola Folarin, “We decided to pay a prominent leader of our organisation a courtesy visit to commend him for his leadership role in Afenifere and for his contributions to the development of Nigeria, based on his record as a patriot.”

Adebanjo expressed joy at receiving the delegation and prayed for Afenifere, Yorubaland, and Nigeria to continue to move forward.

Corroborating the Secretary-General, the National Publicity Secretary of the body, Jare Ajayi, stated that the Executive Committee decided to pay the visit now as one of the ways to show those who have contributed to the progress of Afenifere, Yorubaland, and Nigeria as a whole that their efforts are appreciated.

“Doing so from time to time is to encourage those concerned to do more. We decided to do this also as a way of encouraging others to emulate the elders who have done well and those who are still doing well.”

He added that it can be heart-lifting to know that people appreciate the contributions that one has made or is making.

Mrs. Adeola Azeez (née Adebanjo), who ushered in the team, stated that the Adebanjo family “is very delighted to receive the delegation.”

Others in the delegation were Alagba Dare Babarinsa, Abagun Kole Omololu, and Barrister Lanre Omisore. Mr. Emmanuel Adeoye was also on hand to welcome the visiting delegation.
