
An indigenous learning platform for students of various academic levels, Mobile Classroom App, has rewarded the winners of the nationwide objectives virtual test for university students.
Fifty winners, out of thousands of participants that took the test on August 30 and 31, 2024 across four categories, were awarded cash prizes totalling N4 million during a ceremony held in Lagos at the weekend.
The top scorer in all the categories was rewarded N150,000, while the second runner-up received N120,000 and the third runner-up got N80,000. Others in all the categories received N50,000 each.
The virtual test, being organised periodically as a student support fund, was held for students studying Mass Communication, Political Science, Business/Public Administration, and Social Science Education.
For the Business Administration category, Rufus Olawale of the Lagos State University (LASU), led the list of the top 16 students across various universities. He was followed by Ikechukwu Franklin, a 400-level Accounting student at Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, while Oshinuga Ayomide from LASU secured the third position.
In the Mass Communication category winners, all the top three scorers were students of the University of Ilorin from a total of 17 top scorers across different schools. A 200-level student, Ayomide Alabi, emerged as the top scorer, while Oluwayemisi Dahunsi, a 300-level student, and Ahmad Ogunbayi of 200 Level, secured second and third runner-up respectively.
Similarly, for the Social Sciences Education category, Adesewa Adesanya, a 200-level student of Economics and Education at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), led the eight students that emerged as top scorers from the category, as Ganiu Adesina and Obasi Udoh took the second and third runner-up respectively.
In the Political Science category, nine students emerged as top scorers and were led by a 400-level student, Samuel Okelle of the Federal University Otuoke, who secured the first position. SullaymanQozeem from Usman Dan Fodio University and Abraham Emmanuel of Federal University Otuoke were in the second and third positions respectively.
Founder of the Mobile Classroom App, Akeem Salami, who spoke during the unveiling and presentation of prizes to the winners, stressed that it is high time students are rewarded for learning to promote interest in education.
He said that the mobile classroom app was birthed to enhance students’ learning through technology as well as preserve the intellectual property of Nigerian lecturers when they upload their videos on the platform to teach their students.
In their separate remarks, the students expressed gratitude to the founder for promoting learning with reward. They also attested to the positive impact of the platform through the lectures they received, which they said, expanded their horizon on different topics treated.
