Nigerian singer Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, widely known as Oxlade, has revealed that he started singing before learning to talk.

During a recent episode of the ’90s Babies’ podcast, Oxlade shared this part of his early life, where he mentioned that his parents told him this.

According to the ‘Ku Lo Sa’ crooner, he was already belting out melodies as a child before he could properly form words.

“I started singing before I started talking. My parents told me that I started singing before I could even talk,” he said.

He further added, “I sang faster than catching up with talks. That was what my parents told me. I feel like that was where it [my talent] all started from.”

Oxlade gained recognition after the release of his song “Away,” which was included in Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Songs of 2020.
