NUPENG strategises to mitigate impact of hardship on members

NUPENG’s National President, Williams Akporeha
The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has said it is exploring and implementing strategies to mitigate the impact of the economic downturn on its members, noting that the hardship confronting the country has affected every sector and workers have borne the brunt of the hardships.

President of NUPENG, Williams Akporeha, stated this at a forum in Lagos, where he advocated for better conditions (workers’ rights, decent work, fair wages, safe working conditions, and the empowerment of workers) for Nigerian workers.

While he lamented the economic challenges the nation faces, he said it is in times like these that the resilience and indomitable spirit of the Nigerian worker shine the brightest.

“We have seen countless examples of workers adapting, innovating, and persevering despite the odds,” he said.

Noting that NUPENG remained steadfast in its commitment to supporting its members and all Nigerian workers, Akporeha said: “We are actively exploring and implementing strategies to mitigate the impact of the economic downturn. From advocating for fair wages and safe working conditions to providing training and development opportunities, we are dedicated to ensuring that our members not only survive but thrive. Let us continue to work hand in hand, with unwavering determination and solidarity, to secure a brighter future for all Nigerian workers.”
