To support schoolchildren from indigent backgrounds, a non-governmental organisation, Mickybliss Guidance and Counselling Initiative, has donated schoolbags and other materials to kids in Ojodu, Lagos.

The foundation, which started last year, has held three other outreach programmes to assist children back to school.

Speaking at the event, the founder, Mrs Ngozi Ezeuzoekwe, said the donation was a significant step in their mission to uplift, support and empower the next generation through the transformative power of education.

She said: “At our foundation, we firmly believe that education is not merely a privilege, but a fundamental right that belongs to every child. It is the key that unlocks the doors to a brighter future, a more vibrant community, and a prosperous society.”

Ezeuzoekwe said the event was also about rekindling hope, nurturing dreams, and empowering the potential within each child.

She noted that with the back to school initiative, 36 children were equipped with necessary tools and resources to thrive.

“These 36 children are our future doctors, teachers, leaders, and innovators. By supporting them today, we are investing in a brighter future for us all,” she added.

She further charged the children to embrace education, which she noted, would challenge, teach, and help them to grow.

A board member, Mrs Chiamaka Bartholomew, charged the children to be determined and focused.

She said they must be disciplined, manage their time judiciously, and create a daily routine to develop themselves.

Bartholomew assured that with a positive attitude, they would overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

One of the beneficiaries, Philip Peter, expressed gratitude to the foundation for providing him with school materials, saying the school bag came at an important time.
