Students and staff members of the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, who were abducted by bandits seven months ago, have been released.
The victims were kidnapped during a bandit attack in the Gusau area in February 2024. Their release was confirmed on Monday by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared the update via X (formerly Twitter).
While details about their release remain unclear, including whether a ransom was paid, Makama noted that security forces played a key role in securing their freedom.
“All abducted students and staff of Federal University Gusau have been released and are in good health,” Makama stated.
The victims’ ordeal marks one of the latest in a series of abductions that have plagued northern Nigeria.
