NOC, Sports For All count gains of fitness trainers’ seminar

NOC President, Habu Ahmed Gumel
The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and Sports For All have commended the just-concluded fitness trainers’ seminar in Abuja, describing it as critical to the fitness sector’s development.

Applauding the instructors and other participants at the recently held seminar, at the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Secretariat, Abuja, NOC President, Habu Gumel, hinted at the importance of fitness training exercise, and the need to harness and develop instructors and resource persons that serve in states’ sports councils and other stakeholders in the fitness management industry.

According to him, the programme was last held eight years ago, adding that the NOC considered it necessary to re-activate it, hence the collaboration with the Sports All Commission for this edition under the International Olympic Committee’s Solidarity Initiative.

Gumel said that the reactivation of the seminar, which trained officers drawn from states’ gymnasiums and fitness centres, could not have come at a better time than now considering the importance attached to the health and fitness of Nigerians.

Also speaking at the seminar, the Chairman of the Sports For All Commission, Dr. Abdul Ibrahim, commended the IOC, and facilitators of the programme, including Dr. Adebukola Bojuwoye, Joel Uzamere and Prof. Dominic Funmilola, while charging the participants to go back to their states to put what they have learnt into practice.
