Our celebration of the Street-hop community continued in Ibadan at the second edition of Trench Fest. On April 11, 2024, Ibadan Polo Club played host to thousands of fans who came to see their favourite artists and vibe to their favourite songs. Dapper Live, in partnership with Def Ears Management, crafted a show worthy of being regarded as a major event in a major Nigerian city, as Dapper Music continues to spread the gospel of Street-hop through premium entertainment.
And what a night of entertainment it was. The star-studded lineup graced the stage in succession, with the energy rising as each new act picked up the mic. Fans had the opportunity to meet some of the future superstars of Afrobeats as Reehaa, Fazil, and Marley Kiddo took the stage to showcase their talents at different points of the evening. As the night wore on, fans eagerly anticipated the arrival of current superstars waiting in the wings to bring more heat to the event.
Once the energy went up, it never came down. Artists on the Dapper Music roster treated the crowd to hit song after hit song, with TI Blaze and Balloranking holding it down with records like “Sometimes” and “Realize.” Ice Prince’s performance induced a wave of nostalgia as he performed his classic records like “Boss” and “Whiskey.” Dremo, Skiibii, and LAX made their mark on Trench Fest Ibadan with show-stopping performances that left a lasting impression on everyone present.
As the show reached its crescendo, Zlatan delivered one of the performances of the night. He turned the crowd into a choir as they sang along to every word and fixated on every move he made, accompanied by backup dancers clad in ZTTW jerseys. Shallipopi joined him on stage for the remix of “Elon Musk,” taking over the show in typical Shalli fashion. After taking the crowd through a series of hits, the audience sang a birthday song back to him as hosts Poco Lee and Abikeshugaa presented him with a cake to commemorate his birthday.
Damilola ‘Dapper’ Akinwunmi, the CEO of Dapper Group, added, “What we’ve been able to achieve in the past year is incredible. The success of Trench Fest is a testament to how far the Dapper Music artists have come and how far the company has come.”
Seyi Vibez closed the show with great intensity. His presence had the crowd feeling like the show had just begun, as he reignited the energy by opening with “Different Pattern,” before taking the audience through “Chance,” “Today,” and “Goated” with TML Vibez. Trench Fest Ibadan lived up to the high expectations it received before the show in a monumental way. Dapper Music, through Trench Fest, is keeping the fire of Street-hop burning within Afrobeats.
