
The most decorated team in Nigeria’s women’s basketball, First Bank and top sides like MFM Basketball Club, Nigerian Customs, Titans, and Bayelsa Whales have qualified for the final eight play-offs of the Zenith/NBBF Women’s League.
The eight teams to the national finals made the cut for the play-off after fourteen gruelling games in the Atlantic and Savannah conferences of this year’s league.
The matches were played at the Indoor Hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe National Stadium, Enugu, and the Indoor Hall of MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja, respectively.
First Bank topped the Atlantic Conference by winning 13 games and losing one. They were followed by MFM, with 11 wins and three losses, as well as, Dolphins, who also recorded 11 wins and three losses to finish in third place on the leaderboard on scores margin. Bayelsa Whales are the fourth qualifiers from the Atlantic Conference with eight wins and six losses.
In the Savannah Conference, Nigeria Customs topped the leaderboard with 13 wins and a loss, followed by Titans with 11 victories, three losses, and Royal Aces, who won 10 games and recorded four losses.Air Warriors also cut with nine wins and five defeats.
Speaking on this year’s final eight, the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) President, Musa Kida, commended the management of Zenith Bank for supporting the growth of basketball, in the country, while assuring that the NBBF has made all necessary arrangements to host a successful final next month in Lagos.
