Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on residents to recommit themselves to the values that unite them and build a better future for themselves and generations to come.
He, however, emphasised the need for unity and resilience amid growing discontent across the nation. The governor said that more than ever, the country must also confront an unsettling reality of a growing sense of apathy, distrust, and restiveness among its citizens.
Sanwo-Olu, in his address during the 64th Independence Day celebration in Lagos, yesterday, said he understands the sentiments of frustration many Nigerians feel. He said that Nigerians could not afford to lose faith, though the journey has been difficult, and the path ahead may seem uncertain.
The governor said that insecurity and economic hardship were real issues that demand real solutions, and the state is working tirelessly to ensure the safety and prosperity of every Lagos resident.
IN the same vein, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has said that the state is emerging as the economic powerhouse in Nigeria through deliberate policies aimed at implementing local initiatives to transform the lives of the people, as well as supporting Federal Government’s policies for national development.
The governor, in his address to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary held at the Arcade Ground, State Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, stressed the need for Nigerians to recommit themselves to building an egalitarian society where everyone has the opportunity to fulfill their potential.
He noted that Nigerians had triumphed over countless obstacles and remained steadfast in their commitment to building a land where peace, progress, and prosperity define national identity.
RELATEDLY, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, yesterday, said that though the state is facing challenges in security, infrastructure and low industrial presence, the six-pillar agenda of his administration was carefully crafted and is already yielding fruits.
The governor noted that the creation of the state on October 1, 1996, had accelerated the development of Ekiti land into becoming a trailblazer in every aspect of human development under his watch as the chief executive in the last two years.
Oyebanji, in a broadcast to mark the 28th anniversary of the creation of Ekiti State and the 64th anniversary of the nation’s Independence, also hailed President Bola Tinubu for his unflinching support for the development of Ekiti State.
He, however, paid respect to the founding-fathers that championed the struggles for the creation of the state, as well as Aare Afe Babalola for his contribution towards the actualisation of the Ekiti Project.
