Taraba renames Govt House after T.Y. Danjuma
The Taraba State government has renamed the state’s Government House after former Minister of Defense, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma.
The facility, which serves as the seat of government in Jalingo, the state capital, will now be known as the “T.Y. Danjuma House.”
This, as observed by The Guardian, is in recognition of the former Minister of Defence’s contributions to Nigeria and his significant role in the development of Taraba.
Governor Agbu Kefas, who made the announcement during a special ceremony, praised Gen. Danjuma for his dedication to national service, philanthropy, and commitment to the people of Taraba State.
The renaming is seen as a gesture of gratitude for Danjuma’s influence on the state’s growth and his national legacy.
T.Y. Danjuma, an influential figure in Nigerian history, is renowned for his military career, philanthropic endeavours, and involvement in politics. This latest honour underscores his enduring impact on both the state and the country at large.
Local dignitaries and community leaders applauded the renaming, calling it a fitting tribute to a statesman whose legacy has touched many lives.

The feat was achieved following the recent collective decision of the State House of Assembly to pass the Bill seeking the renaming of the state Government House after the retired general.
Before passing the bill into law, the members, as observed by our state correspondent, described Danjuma as the most outstanding individual who has contributed to the growth of the state and the country at large.
Overwhelmed by the development, he urged Nigerians to put their differences aside and work for the rapid growth of the country.
While praying for the peaceful coexistence of the country, irrespective of political, tribal, and religious differences, he stressed the need for the people of the state to give the current state governor, Dr. Kefas, all the necessary support, which he believed has become essential.
