Spotify unveils sounds of Nigeria to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence

To commemorate Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary, digital music, podcast, and video service provider cum platform, Spotify, introduced a special campaign dubbed ‘Sounds of Nigeria’ to celebrate the country’s rich musical heritage with a special soundtrack titled ‘The Sound of Hope’.

Highlighting the essence of the campaign in a statement released on Monday, September 30, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu said: “Sounds of Nigeria’ campaign celebrates the country’s rich musical heritage, which has served as a unifying force and source of pride for Nigerians.”

In collaboration with renowned content creator and Disc Jockey, Justin UG, Spotify further enriched the experience with a takeover of the Internet Famous Playlist, introducing a wider audience to fresh Nigerian sounds.

The campaign also features two new playlists: “Naija Gospel Throwback”, celebrating the roots of Nigerian gospel music, and “Nigerian Highlife,” showcasing the energetic rhythms of this classic genre.
