Pedro advocates insurance growth, job creation

Bode Pedro

Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Casava, Bode Pedro, has emphasised the need for industry leaders to address unemployment and create opportunities.  According to him, the first thing to do as leaders is to reckon with the fact that there are no jobs for the people.

“People are hungry. People need jobs. People need an opportunity to live their lives and grow. So I’m developing this thought process where we can be truly part of the change” he said.

He spoke during IMT 3.0 Forum in Lagos, with the theme, ‘Mainstreaming Tech in Insurance: Are We Ready for the Fusion?” It was moderated by the Chief Client Officer at AXA Mansard, Rashidat Adebisi .

The event, which was designed to discuss the convergence of insurance and technology, was concluded at the weekend in Victoria Island, Lagos, featuring over 300 C-suite executives, 56 companies, and 50 speakers.

This year, Casava, Nigeria’s leading digital micro-insurance provider, served as the official insurer of the event, providing attendees with immediate coverage for personal accidents and item losses. The partnership not only underscored Casava’s commitment to enhancing insurance accessibility but also aligns with the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM)’s agenda to expand micro-insurance offerings in Nigeria.

Pedro further urged the insurance community to learn from past experiences and collaborate to create job opportunities that would benefit the industry as a whole. The conference also introduced IMT Redefined, a segment celebrating youth culture and the push for financial inclusion through creativity and Afrobeats, highlighting the vibrant spirit of innovation within Nigeria and Africa.
