Bouncer arrested after fatal stabbing at Ago Palace Way club

• Police, students parley on strengthening relations

A club bouncer identified as Kingsley Oti has stabbed a man to death in Ago Palace Way, Ago-Okota. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on October 7, when the victim, who remains unidentified, had an altercation with Oti in the car park of an unnamed club and lounge.

The club’s manager reported the incident to the Ago-Okota Police Division. According to the report, the bouncer stabbed the man, who subsequently lost consciousness. He was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Idi-Araba, Mushin, but was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.

Lagos State Police Command spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident and said that detectives have visited the crime scene and the hospital. Photographs were taken of the deceased, and the body was transferred to the Mainland General Hospital Morgue in Yaba for a post-mortem examination. Oti has been arrested, and an investigation is underway.

In other news, Lagos State Commissioner of Police Olanrewaju Ishola pledged to improve collaboration with Nigerian students in the fight against crime.
Ishola made this pledge while hosting executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Lagos Chapter, led by Comrade Olamilekan Alimi, at the State Command Headquarters. The meeting focused on enhancing relations between the police and students.

Alimi assured the CP that Nigerian students would partner with the police by providing timely and actionable information. He also requested that the CP encourage Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), particularly those in areas with large student populations, to adopt a more helpful, friendly, and discreet approach when interacting with students.

Ishola expressed his appreciation for the students’ contributions to maintaining peace and assured them that the Command prioritises their safety and security.
