
The Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC has mandated every contractor working with to henceforth register with the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA).
NDDC said the registration which comes with a certificate will become a prerequisite for doing business with it.
Managing Director of NDDC Samuel Ogbuku stated this in Calabar during a Sensitization on the establishment of NDCCITMA.
Chief Ogbuku who was represented by the Commissioner representing Cross River State in the commission, Orok Duke said this is aimed at encouraging participation in the activities of the Chambers.
He emphasised that the intention is to ensure that NDCCITMA stands in the gap between NDDC and entrepreneurs to provide support to sustain the business.
“Henceforth as a means to encourage participation in the activities of the Chambers of Commerce and benefit from its prospects, every contractor working with NDDC or intends to work with NDDC should register with the chambers as such certificate will become a prerequisite for doing business with the commission.

“Our intention is to have NDCCITMA stand in the gap between NDDC and entrepreneurs to provide the long-sought support to sustain the businesses of those who cannot meet the stringent conditions of financial institutions,” he said.
He added that the successful establishment of the Chambers of Commerce will complement the ongoing project HOPE and IFAD programmes.
The managing director said the vision behind establishing the chambers is in line with Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda which aims at enabling an assured future for the people of this country.
Secretary of NDCCITMA Solomon Edebiri said the sensitization aims to create awareness and that a portal will be for people to register.
He explained that they will aggregate people into various economic groups and the critical target is between the lowest level to the mid-level.
