Judge threatens to expose Kano anti-graft agency boss
A Federal high court Judge in Kano, Justice Simon Amobeda, has threatened to expose chairman of the Kano Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhuyi Magaji Rimin-Gado.
The judge accused Rimin-Gado of attempting to influence the judgement of a case under his jurisdiction.
Justice Amobeda vowed to remain resolute in dispensing judgment and resist any form of intimidation.
He raised the alarm on Friday at open court session when he cited Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Kano chapter Usman Umar Fari, who also doubles as lawyer of the state anti-corruption commission.
JuAmobeda who before attending to business of the day, confronted Fari with questions on legal procedures required of a client, who sought an appeal for judgment against him.
The Federal High Court Judge who initially held the court in suspense subsequently let the matter lose when he revealed how the Kano anti-graft agency boss filed 5 petitions before the National Judicial Council (NJC) against him.
According to Amobeda, the petitions accused him of passing a judgment against the interest of Kano anti-graft agency while taking seven months to deliver judgement.
But the judge insisted that his verdicts were passed on the basis facts available to him and wondered why he would be made to respond to petitions on matters that were decided by five judges against the anti-graft agency.
