Awake Initiative for Family Relation, Ethics and Development (AiFreD) and Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), New Era, on Sunday, said the policies of the President Bola Tinubu-led government are anti-people and hardship-inflicting.

The Director of AiFreD, Angel Folorunso, and National Publicity Secretary of OPC, Sina Akinpelu, stated these in chats with The Guardian in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The two activists warned Tinubu against the repercussions of continuously inflicting pains, hunger, and hardship on Nigerians.

Folorunso, who is also the Osun State Coordinator of the Initiative for Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN), said that the President Bola Tinubu administration has nothing to offer Nigerians other than hardships, hunger, necropolitics, and economic catastrophe.

Folorunso, who is a former Mass Communication lecturer, said, “The Tinubu government is not only bereft of positive outcome-creating ideas but also dangerously adamant about continuing the oppressive, hope-dashing socio-economic activities with their excruciatingly scorching effects on the masses.”

He described President Tinubu as an agent of imperialist interests and a pseudo-progressive, accusing him of elevating poor governance to an art form.

Folorunso warned that the president’s tendencies toward tyrannical insensitivity and a preference for foreign influence could further destabilise the nation.

Describing the president as a slave driver whose focus is to elevate bad governance to the level of an art, the scholar added: “His gerontocratic drift, steeped deep in tyrannous insensitivity, with a knack for xenophilia, will in no distant time further weaken the structure of the country.”

On his part, Akinpelu, said that the economic challenges facing the people are directly linked to the anti-people policies of the Tinubu administration.

He noted the struggles many face in meeting basic needs, contrasting the historical role of the Yoruba as champions of democracy with the current plight of their community. He warned that if the Yoruba people lose confidence in Tinubu, the repercussions could be significant for his presidency.

He said: “Things are hard because President Tinubu’s policies are anti-people. People are finding it difficult to feed. The Yoruba are known to be the symbol and pillar of democracy in Nigeria. The people fought for the restoration of democracy. It is ironic that a Yoruba man is the president, but the people are turning to beggars. If the Yoruba turn against him, he will not be able to face its consequences.”
