Gov. Yusuf optimistic of seamless 2025 Hajj exercise

After a successful completion of 2024 Hajj, Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has given a clean bill of health on the report of last spiritual exercise, pledging his readiness to superintend a seamless exercise with Kano pilgrims in the 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.  

The governor who made the declaration on Friday while receiving the report of 2024 Hajj operations submitted by the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, assured the people of Kano of his administration’s resolve to go the extra mile in addressing all the challenges that pilgrims and the management regularly contend with during the exercise.

The colorful occasion marked the end of the 2024 operations and signal beginning of 2025 exercise for registration of intending pilgrims. Already, the board has announced a sum of N8.4 million as initial deposit as stipulated by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).  

Extending accolades to the Director General of the state pilgrims board, Governor Yusuf said the 2024 exercise has proven the integrity and tremendous efforts the board dedicated to deliver quality service to pilgrims welfare. 

Gida Gida emphasised that the positive account and achievements recorded on feeding, accommodation and health care services of Kano participants in the last operation are testaments of Government support, while assuring a renewed experience in 2025.  

Earlier, the Deputy Governor of Kano State who served as Amirul Hajj for the 2024 Hajj, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, reported that pilgrims from the state were found worthy of ambassador of Kano with desirable comportment, obedient and discipline during their days in the Holy Land.  

Gwarzo, however, raised concerns over shortage of lavatories and congestion at the Masha’ir, urging the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to take urgent measures to correct the lapses ahead of 2025 exercise. 

While presenting detailed account of 2024 exercise to the Governor, the Director General, Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u disclosed that a total of 3,125 pilgrims from Kano preformed the last Hajj.  

Alh. Rabi’u reported that four pilgrims died sooner after returned to Nigeria from the holy land, adding that the board has settled all liabilities and outstanding fees concerning the Hajj operation, just as he commended the dedication of staff to duties during the onshore and offshore operations.  

The Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Yusuf Lawan, requested the State Government to provide funds for advance payment of accommodations and provide operational vehicles for the Board for easy mobility in the Holy Land.
