
The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has officially unveiled the state pensioners’ enrollment into the Medical Insurance Package (RMIP), an initiative designed to provide essential support to pensioners as well as senior citizens.
The Special Adviser on Digital Media and Strategy to the governor, Abdullberqy Usman Ebbo, said on X that the launch represents a significant improvement in the state’s healthcare efforts, marking a strong commitment to the well-being of its ageing population.
Ebbo explained that the RMIP is designed to eliminate financial barriers to healthcare, enabling pensioners and senior citizens to access vital medical services at no cost.
Ebbo said, “This comprehensive package covers treatments, medications, and consultations within an extensive network of healthcare providers in the state.”
Abdulberqy further stressed that the Executive Secretary of the Niger State Contributory Health Agency, Sulayman Abu-Bakr, reaffirmed the administration’s vision for an inclusive healthcare system.
Abu-Bakr said the invaluable contributions that elders have made to the growth, development, and shaping of the communities we live in within Niger State, ensuring that pensioners can enjoy their later years with dignity and access to essential healthcare services.
Usman Ebbo noted that the event showcases the dedication of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s administration to improving the quality of life for all residents, especially the elderly, marking a positive step toward a more equitable healthcare system in Niger State.
