A group, Lovers of Hope for Greater Nation, has called for total and genuine restructuring of the country under a new name to be known as the United States of Nigeria (USN).

The group noted that the country would enjoy unity and peace if restructured into USN, noting that marginalisation and corruption are the major problems fuelling agitations in the nation.

President of the group, Prophet Wale Olagunju, in a statement on Friday, noted that restructuring Nigeria into a sovereign country with sovereign states without any form of division would make the country to excel far better than Dubai, U.S., China and the United Kingdom.

“Nigeria is in a sorry state that needs urgent repair. Please who can do it? We have our leaders who can do it. Our leaders can raise the present Nigeria out of the desolation of many generations above tribe, marginalisation and corruption under a sovereign country with sovereign states to be called the USN without any form of division. This is the time to do it! And who will do it? It is our present leaders that will do it,” he said.

He disclosed that the group has been mobilising the country’s past and present leaders, critical stakeholders and patriots to a world press conference in December this year “where we will give our leaders the template of our project which we started in October 2023.”

He added: “This is to inspire fresh hope in our people and retain this entity as a united Nigeria without any form of division. The programme will be coming up on or before the first week of December 2024. We have made this programme known in several national media outlets.

“We have also written to the President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT), ex-presidents, all state governors, critical stakeholders, the European Union etc. Our leaders should serve as the bridge joining one tribe to another in unity to be able to realise our dream of a united Nigeria. Presently we are ‘one Nigeria’ by word of mouth but our hearts are in different nations. Nigerians are grieving because of high level corruption, marginalisation, mismanagement, poverty and bad leadership. These are what have shattered the hearts of Nigerians and why their confidence in the country will continue to ebb. We all want a united Nigeria but what is separating us is not being addressed.”

Olagunju appealed for the financial and spiritual support of Nigerians towards the success of the project, stressing that “we believe this is the best solution to resolve the problems in this country, which have lingered for many years.”
