
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Saturday commended the peaceful conduct of the local government elections across the 21 LGAs in the state.
The Governor made this statement after casting his ballot in his hometown of Upogoro in Okene Local Government Area.
Voting at Polling Unit 1, Upogoro/Odenku Ward, in Okene LGA, Governor Ododo praised the people of the state for their peaceful behaviour, regardless of political affiliations. He noted that his administration has created an enabling environment for all political parties to vote for candidates of their choice without intimidation, adding that adequate security measures have been implemented to ensure a hitch-free process.
He urged the security agencies to maintain their commendable efforts until the exercise concludes.
Governor Ododo also commended the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) for conducting a peaceful, credible, transparent, and acceptable election.
He encouraged the people of the state to continue supporting his administration, promising that efforts would be made to alleviate the current hardships. The Governor assured them that the policies of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration would soon yield positive results and called for the people’s continued support.
Checks by our correspondent indicated that the elections were also peaceful in other parts of the state, including Kogi East and Kogi West.
