
The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman and his Power counterpart, Adebayo Adelabu, will on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, join other key stakeholders to speak on the electricity crisis rocking the nation’s educational institutions.
They will lead the discussion at this year’s national education summit organised by a group of journalists under the aegis of Education Writers’ Association of Nigeria (EWAN), aimed at addressing the conflict between tertiary institutions and electricity distribution companies (Discos) over high tariffs.
The summit, billed to hold at Tolu Odugbemi Hall, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, is themed: “High tariffs: Resolving electricity crisis in Nigeria’s educational institutions.”
To join in the discussion at the panel sessions are the Acting Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Dr Chris Maiyaki; Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Sanusi Garba, among others.
According to the Secretary of the Central Organising Committee of the summit, Christianah Alabi-Akande, and chairperson of the publicity sub-committee, Elizabeth Osayande, Mamman will chair the event while Adelabu will be the keynote speaker.
