Okhiria bows out, hands over to senior director

The Managing Director, Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Fidet Okhiria, has bowed out of office and handed over duties and responsibilities to the most senior Director of the corporation, Ben Iloanusi, after completing his second four-year term tenure of office successfully over the weekend.

The outgoing MD, during the handing over ceremony, commended the management and staff of the corporation for the cooperation and understanding extended to him during his tenure, which according to the former NRC boss, was the bedrock of his success in running the corporation’s affairs.

In a statement by Deputy Director, Public Relations, Yakub Mahmood, Okhiria, enjoined the management and staff of the corporation to extend the same cooperation and understanding to the incoming acting Managing Director.

Iloanusi, who until his elevation to the post of Acting Managing Director, was the director, of procurement of the corporation.

He is a graduate of Political Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and an MBA in international management from the South Bank University London.

Iloanusi joined the NRC in 2011 as the Deputy Director of Procurement before rising to the post of Director of Procurement in 2019.

During his acceptance speech at the ceremony where testimonies were made acknowledging the vast experience, patience, compassion and fatherly role of the former MD during the handing over at the weekend.

The incoming acting MD solicited the cooperation of the staff and management of the NRC to be extended to him more than that of his predecessor, he said his office is ready to accommodate constructive advice and criticism that will move the corporation forward during his tenure successfully.
