Sanwo-Olu’s aide, UNILORIN VC, 37 others bag award of excellence

The Special Assistant (Media) to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Gboyega Razak Akosile, and 38 other products of the University of Ilorin were awarded certificates of excellence by the school’s Alumni Association on Monday.

The event, held at the school’s multipurpose hall, celebrated 23 past alumni and 16 best graduating students.

The National President of the group, Prof. AbdulRazaq Olubusuyi Kilani, informed newsmen that the recipients, including the Vice Chancellor, AbdulWahab Egbewole (SAN), were recognized for their doggedness and innovation in their various fields.

According to him, “The recipients have distinguished themselves in their various challenges; hence the Alumni Association must live up to its mandate by appreciating them.”

He further explained that the essence of the alumni group is networking, adding, “Tonight, you press men saw that we also recognized the best-graduating students, just to encourage them and urge those still in school to buckle up.”

Akosile told newsmen that he had not expected the honour from the Association, adding, “I never knew people were watching me and my disposition.

“When I got the letter of intent, I had no choice but to accept by sending the organisers my personal data. I am highly honoured beyond words.”

He also urged graduating students to face challenges head-on, saying, “They are more intelligent than us because we weathered our era with analogue intelligence, but the graduating students are opportuned to face it with digital, computerised machinations. They have no excuse not to excel in life.”

Akosile promised to continue contributing to the Association and his alma mater. “We won’t forget UNILORIN because, without it, we wouldn’t be where we are today,” he said.
