Akwa Ibom police present N80.6m to families of fallen officers

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has presented cheques of over N80.6 million to 54 families of deceased officers.

The presentation took place at the State Command Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia.

The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, in a statement, noted that the Commissioner of Police highlighted the Inspector General of Police’s commitment to the welfare of police officers and their families.

While presenting the cheques, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, urged the beneficiaries, who are next of kin to the deceased officers, to make optimal use of the funds provided.

The cheques were part of the Inspector General of Police’s Family Welfare Scheme, Group Life Assurance, and Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme.

The beneficiaries thanked the police force for the gesture and pledged to use the funds wisely.
