Non-Governmental organisation, The Christian Conscience, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to urgently ameliorate the harsh economic situation in the country and lower the rising cost of food items and hike in fuel prices by, among others, settling the feud between NNPC Limited and Dangote Refinery.

The group decried the ripple effects of the high cost of transportation as a result of hike in fuel prices, adding that the situation had become unbearable for citizens.

The organisation, at its monthly meeting in Lagos, urged Federal Government to live up to its responsibilities by easing the burden of Nigerians.

The group, in a statement, made available to the media by its National Publicity Director, Tunji Oguntuase, and jointly signed by the National Chairman, Dr Yetunde Akinluyi, and National Secretary, Rev Dr Kolawole Verrals, said the appeal was part of the resolutions reached by the group at the end of its monthly meeting held in lkeja.

MEANWHILE, the $100m land case involving Dangote Refinery was stalled yesterday due to the absence of the judge, attorney-general and other defendants’ in court.

The case filed by De Renaissance Patriots Foundation and Ibeju-Lekki Peoples Forum was scheduled to come up for mention yesterday.

As it became obvious that the court was not going to sit, the affected natives were seen in the court premises singing slogan of commitment and resilience saying: “Solidarity forever, we shall always fight for our right.”
